Based in theory and research, VTS uses skilled facilitation of visual art discussions to significantly increase student engagement, performance and enjoyment of learning. Since its founding in 1995, VTS has influenced the landscape of education in schools and museums around the world, reaching over 1 million students in 33 states and 18 countries through more than 5,000 educators in more than 300 schools and 100 museums. The VTS School Program is a school-wide, multi-year professional development program for pre-K, elementary and middle schools. VTS professional development fosters educators’ facilitation skills and student-centered practices. Students engage with VTS curriculum that is intentional, sequential and developmentally-based to support students’ growth in critical thinking, language and art-viewing skills over time.
